Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Bapu Tower on Mahatma Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary

Patna (Bihar) [India], October 2: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Bapu Tower on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. The event took place at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where CM Kumar also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by offering flowers to his statue.

In a social media post, CM Nitish Kumar wrote, “On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, he was paid homage by offering flowers to his statue in a state function organised at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.”

CM Kumar emphasized that Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals and thoughts are inspirations and should be followed by everyone. He stated, “Tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary. Bapu’s ideals and his thoughts inspire us. We should follow Bapu’s thoughts and pledge to take them forward. Bapu’s path and his teachings will create an atmosphere of brotherhood and harmony in the society and the country will move forward.”

Earlier in the day, JD(U) MP and Union Minister Rajeev Ranjan, also known as Lalan Singh, participated in the Swachhata Abhiyan on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. He highlighted the importance of cleanliness, stating, “Through this campaign, the message is clear that cleanliness is a very important part of every individual’s life. Cleanliness can help in getting rid of many problems.” He added that ‘Swachata’ should not just be treated as a slogan but should be part of everyone’s life. “If we will clean our surroundings, it will help get rid of diseases,” he said.

The Swachh Bharat campaign marked its tenth anniversary on Wednesday. On August 15, 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful message from the ramparts of the Red Fort, calling for cleanliness to become a national priority and urging citizens to join in this mission. This led to the launch of the Swachh Bharat Mission on October 2, 2014, which embraced a ‘whole-of-government’ approach to make sanitation the responsibility of all.
