Yashas Chandra Leads Tour Championship 2024 in Jamshedpur

In Jamshedpur, India, Yashas Chandra MS from Mysuru climbed to the top of the leaderboard in the Tour Championship 2024 with a flawless five-under 66 in the third round. This event is the season finale for the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) and is held at the Beldih and Golmuri Golf Courses.

Yashas, who started the day in fifth place, now leads with a total score of 14-under 199. He is closely followed by Udayan Mane, a two-time winner of the Tour Championship, who is at 13-under 200. Sudhir Sharma and Sri Lankan N Thangaraja are tied for third at 12-under 201.

The tournament format involves playing the first nine holes at one course and the second nine at the other, a pattern that will continue in the final round. Yashas, currently eighth on the PGTI merit list, impressed by hitting 16 greens in regulation and making five birdies.

Yashas expressed his satisfaction with his performance, noting the challenge of adjusting to the greens' speed. He plans to be aggressive in the final round to maintain his lead.

Udayan Mane also had a strong round, picking up four birdies despite some missed putts. Yuvraj Sandhu achieved a tournament low of eight-under 63, placing him tied sixth. C Muniyappa made a hole-in-one, and defending champion Gaganjeet Bhullar is in tied 10th place.

Local players Karan Taunk, Kurush Heerjee, and Digvijay Singh are further down the leaderboard.
