Iran Attacks Israel with 200 Missiles, US Navy Helps Defend

Pentagon press secretary Air Force Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder announced on Tuesday that Iran launched a significant attack on Israel, firing approximately 200 ballistic missiles. The US is still assessing the situation, and numbers may change as updates come in.

The US Navy destroyers deployed in the Middle East supported Israel’s defense by firing about a dozen interceptors against the incoming missiles. Ryder emphasized that the US is well-prepared to protect its forces and defend Israel.

Most of the missiles were intercepted, resulting in minimal damage on the ground. No US personnel were injured. Secretary Austin, General CQ Brown, and General Eric Carrilla are in constant contact with President Biden and Vice President Harris.

Secretary Austin warned that if Iran or its allies target American personnel or interests, the US will take all necessary measures to defend its people.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described Iran’s missile attack as a ‘big mistake’ and promised that Tehran would pay for it. Israeli Defence Forces spokesperson, RAdm. Daniel Hagari, called the attack a ‘severe and dangerous escalation’ and vowed consequences.
