Congress Holds Aarti for BR Ambedkar in Dehradun

In Dehradun, Uttarakhand, Congress workers performed an evening Aarti of the Constitution to honor Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. This event, held in Vikasnagar, was led by former cabinet minister Navprabhat, who emphasized the need to raise public awareness against attempts to alter the Indian Constitution.

Concerns Over Constitutional Changes

Navprabhat highlighted that since 2014, there have been efforts to change the Constitution, and disrespectful language has been used against BR Ambedkar. The Congress party organized this event to pledge the protection of the Constitution and the honor of its creator, BR Ambedkar, who ensured equality for all classes.

Nationwide Protests Announced

The Congress party announced nationwide protests on December 24 against Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks on BR Ambedkar. Congress MPs and Central Working Committee members will hold press conferences on December 22 and 23 to address Shah's comments.

Parliamentary Protests

During the recent Parliament winter session, INDIA bloc MPs protested against Shah's remarks, which criticized Congress for frequently invoking Ambedkar's name. Shah's statement suggested that if Congress had invoked God's name as often, they would have achieved heaven for seven lives. Congress demanded an apology and Shah's resignation, calling his remarks an insult to Ambedkar.

Protests and Injuries

Parallel protests by BJP and Congress led to a face-off in Parliament, resulting in injuries to BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput. Mallikarjun Kharge also alleged being pushed during the incident.
