Prime Minister Modi Welcomes Jamaican PM Andrew Holness to India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Andrew Holness, the Prime Minister of Jamaica, at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. This is Holness’s first visit to India and the first bilateral visit by a Jamaican Prime Minister.

Holness arrived in New Delhi on Monday and was warmly received by Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary. Before meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Holness paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

During his visit, Holness will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Modi and meet with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar. He will also interact with other dignitaries and trade and industry leaders. Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed to enhance bilateral cooperation.

India and Jamaica share strong historical and cultural ties, including a shared colonial past, democratic values, and a love for cricket. This visit aims to strengthen these bonds and boost economic cooperation between the two nations.

Earlier, Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness congratulated Prime Minister Modi on his third consecutive victory in the Lok Sabha elections. Modi expressed his gratitude and looked forward to working together for the welfare of both countries.
