Two Students in Madhya Pradesh Die from Electric Shock While Cleaning Hostel Water Tank
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken notice of a tragic incident in Madhya Pradesh where two Scheduled Tribe students died from electrocution while cleaning a water tank in a government-run hostel.
Incident Details
On September 25, two students residing in the Government Scheduled Tribe Senior Boys Hostel in Ringnod, Sardarpur, Dhar district, were electrocuted while cleaning a water tank. The students came into contact with a live wire connected to a water pump inside the tank. Villagers found the students lying in the tank and informed the hostel authorities.
NHRC’s Response
The NHRC has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police of Madhya Pradesh, seeking a detailed report within two weeks. The report is expected to include the status of the police investigation and any compensation paid to the victims’ families.
Hostel Superintendent Suspended
The Dhar district collector, Priyank Mishra, has suspended the hostel superintendent, Bansingh Kannauj, for improper management and negligence. The suspension was issued under the MP Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1966.
