Congress MLA Uma Thomas Falls at Kochi Stadium: Investigation Underway

A shocking incident occurred at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi, where Congress MLA Uma Thomas fell from the VIP Gallery. This prompted an investigation by forensic experts, police, and fire officials to check for safety issues. The Palarivattom Police have filed a case against the event organizers, and Krishnakumar, the owner of the event management company, is in police custody for questioning. Mridanga Vision has sought anticipatory bail from the High Court.

Congress leader and MLA Depthy Mary Varghese criticized the security arrangements, stating, "This is a security failure from the side of the police and Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA). It's a real security lapse from the side of the authorities and also from the side of the police authorities. Even the minister is participating in this program. So while it's a VIP program, there should be a security check from the side of the police."

The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols at public events, especially those involving VIPs, emphasizing the need for stricter security measures. Uma Thomas was rushed to Renai Medicity Hospital in Kochi and is being treated in the ICU. Kerala Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan reported that she sustained a head injury and multiple fractures and needs monitoring for 24 hours. "At the beginning, we thought it was a grave situation," Satheesan said.
