In Dhaka, Bangladesh, Shariful Islam Sajjad's father, Md Ruhul Amin, has declared his son's innocence following his arrest in Mumbai. Shariful, from Rajabaria village in Jhalakathi, Bangladesh, was detained in connection with an attack on actor Saif Ali Khan. Md Ruhul Amin insists his son was mistaken for the attacker due to a resemblance and plans to seek help from the Bangladesh government for his release.
Md Ruhul Amin explained that his son fled to India to escape political harassment linked to their family's association with the BNP. He argues that Shariful, who arrived in India six or seven months ago, could not have committed the assault on Saif Ali Khan, who was injured in a violent confrontation on January 16.
The Mumbai Police have found fingerprints at the crime scene, which they believe are crucial to the investigation. The accused allegedly attempted to steal from multiple residences before targeting Saif Ali Khan's home. A case has been filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, and Shariful was apprehended while trying to flee to Bangladesh.
