JP Nadda Becomes Leader of Rajya Sabha

Union Minister JP Nadda has been appointed as the Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, replacing Piyush Goyal. Nadda assumed charge as Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare on June 11 and is also the Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers. He continues to serve as the BJP’s national president and is a Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat.

264th Session of Rajya Sabha

The 264th Session of Rajya Sabha will commence on June 27 and will conclude on July 3.

18th Lok Sabha Oath-Taking Ceremony

The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha began with the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected members, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Other leaders who took oaths include Union Ministers Bhupender Yadav, Giriraj Singh, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, JD(U) MP Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh, BJP MP Piyush Goyal, Chirag Paswan, Kiren Rijiju, Nitin Gadkari, and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab took oath as the pro-tem Speaker of the Lok Sabha, administered by President Droupadi Murmu. Mahtab then invited PM Modi to take oath as a member of the House.

PM Modi’s Address

While addressing the media outside the new Parliament building, PM Modi congratulated all the newly elected members and emphasized that the new government will strive to take everyone along and build consensus to serve the country.
