Nine Arrested in Negev Bedouin Town for Illegal Weapons and Electricity Theft
In the Negev Bedouin town of Ar'arat an-Naqab, Israeli police conducted a major operation resulting in the arrest of nine suspects associated with criminal families. The operation, which involved around 150 police officers and civilian enforcement agencies, aimed to enforce law and order in the area.
During the raid, police seized illegal weapons and ammunition, including an M16 rifle, an FN pistol, and several loaded magazines. A military vest and bullet pouches were also found hidden in a house. Additionally, approximately 150,000 NIS in cash, suspected to be linked to criminal activities, was confiscated.
The Israel Electric Corporation discovered illegal electricity consumption through pirated infrastructure. Eight illegal connections were disconnected, and criminal cases and tort claims are expected for the theft of electricity, valued at about one million Shekels ($274,000).
