Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Encourages Voter Participation in Kedarnath By-Election
On November 20, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami urged voters in the Kedarnath Assembly by-election to vote in large numbers. He emphasized the importance of voting to support ongoing development in Kedarnath. Voting is also taking place in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, and Dhami encouraged voters there to participate and form a double-engine government.
Earlier, BJP candidate Asha Nautiyal cast her vote, expressing confidence in the development efforts led by PM Narendra Modi and CM Dhami. As of 11:00 AM, voter turnout in Kedarnath was 17.69%. This by-election follows the death of BJP MLA Shaila Rani Rawat, with the main contest between BJP's Asha Nautiyal and Congress's Manoj Rawat.
By-elections are also occurring in 15 Assembly seats across Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, and Uttarakhand. In Uttar Pradesh, nine seats are up for by-polls, significant for the NDA after a previous electoral setback. Punjab is holding by-elections in four constituencies, while Kerala's Palakkad and Uttarakhand's Kedarnath are also voting.
In Maharashtra, voting is underway across 288 Assembly seats with key leaders like CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis in contention. In Jharkhand, 528 candidates are contesting across 38 seats, with prominent figures like CM Hemant Soren and former CM Babulal Marandi participating. The election is a contest between the JMM-led alliance and the BJP-led NDA.
