Taiwan detects 30 Chinese aircraft; says 2 US naval vessels sailed through Strait
Taiwan Monitors Chinese Military Activity
The Ministry of National Defense (MND) in Taiwan reported the detection of 30 aircraft from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and seven vessels from the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) near Taiwan's territory. By 6 am, 23 of these aircraft had crossed into Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) in the north, southwest, and east. Additionally, two U.S. naval vessels sailed through the Taiwan Strait on February 10.
The MND shared updates on social media, confirming the monitoring and response to these activities. On a previous day, 32 PLA aircraft and eight PLAN vessels were detected, with 22 aircraft crossing the median line into Taiwan's ADIZ. The MND also noted the presence of two Chinese balloons.
China has recently increased its military capabilities, including launching a new landing helicopter assault vessel and producing floating bridge docks for amphibious operations. The Taiwan-China conflict remains a significant geopolitical issue, with Taiwan operating as an independent state despite China's claims under the "One China" policy.
