Udhampur Prepares for Final Phase of Elections with Special Security Measures

Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir is gearing up for the final phase of elections on October 1. Special security measures, including the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and Quick Response Teams (QRTs), have been put in place to ensure a peaceful voting process.

Security Measures

Udhampur SSP Amod Ashok Nagpure stated that the district has 654 polling booths and special night QRTs and night domination measures have been implemented. Areas like Basantgarh, Latti, and Dudu are receiving special attention with additional security personnel deployed.

Election Details

This election is the first since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. The third and final phase of polling will cover 40 constituencies, with 24 in the Jammu division and the rest in Kashmir. Major parties like the National Conference, Congress, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are competing for the 90 seats.

Voter Turnout

The first and second phases of polling recorded voter turnouts of 61% and 57.31% respectively. The counting of votes will take place on October 8.
