The Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) has announced plans to protest at 60 different locations in Karachi. This decision comes in response to the ongoing demonstrations by Majlis-e-Wahdatul-Muslimeen (MWM). ASWJ leaders have given the government an ultimatum to resolve the MWM protest by Tuesday at 3 pm, or they will organize sit-ins across the city.
The sit-ins are planned to begin on Tuesday afternoon at various locations, including Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Hydari Market, Sakhi Hasan Mobile Market, Nagan Chowrangi, 4k Chowrangi, Sohrab Goth, Karimabad, Sharah-e-Faisal, Lasbela Chowk, Civic Centre, Gulshan Chowrangi, Mosmayat Chowk, Baloch Colony, Akhtar Colony, and other areas.
MWM has called for nationwide protests in solidarity with the people of Parachinar, who have been demanding justice and peace amid ongoing violence and killings. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab suggested that MWM stage their protest in front of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the issue is not related to Karachi.
To assist residents during the protests, Karachi Traffic Police have launched a 24/7 helpline. The helpline operates in three shifts to provide real-time traffic updates to the public.
