Tasleema Akhter Criticizes Pakistan's Kashmir 'Solidarity Day'

Tasleema Akhter, a political activist from Kashmir, has spoken out against Pakistan's observance of Kashmir 'Solidarity Day' on February 5. She claims it is a "facade" that hides Pakistan's role in sponsoring terrorism and violence in the region. Akhter argues that Pakistan pretends to support Kashmiri rights while contributing to the suffering of its people.

In a post on X, Akhter highlighted the ongoing violence caused by Pakistan-backed terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). These groups have been responsible for numerous deaths and injuries, including a recent incident where a woman died in a blast near TRC Srinagar. In 2024 alone, 57 civilians were killed, and 198 were injured due to this violence.

Akhter also criticized Pakistan's hypocrisy, pointing out its silence on human rights abuses within its own borders, particularly in Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She noted serious violations such as extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances.

She argued that while Pakistan supports terrorist groups, it neglects its own citizens' needs, like poverty and unemployment, violating international law and destabilizing South Asia. Akhter concluded by urging the world to hold Pakistan accountable for its role in terrorism and human rights abuses.
