Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense (MND) has reported a rise in Chinese military presence around the island. As of 6 a.m. on Tuesday, five aircraft from the People's Liberation Army (PLA), seven vessels from the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), and one official ship were detected near Taiwan. Notably, four of these aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, entering Taiwan's southwestern Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ). The MND assured that they are closely monitoring the situation and responding as needed.
Earlier, on Monday, the MND detected 12 PLA aircraft and seven PLAN vessels in the area, with eight aircraft crossing the median line into the ADIZ. Taiwan has increased its maritime security in response to these incursions.
In related developments, Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te attended a ceremony for the completion of the ROCN Shuei-Sing Barracks, which will enhance the training capabilities of the Taiwanese Navy Underwater Operations Unit.
Additionally, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to the US, Japan, and Australia for their joint statement advocating for peace in the Taiwan Strait.
