Increased Chinese Military Activity Around Taiwan
On February 13, Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence (MND) reported detecting six sorties of People's Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft, eight People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels, and one official ship near Taiwan. Four of these aircraft crossed the median line into Taiwan's northern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). The MND assured that they are monitoring the situation closely.
Earlier, on February 12, 30 PLA aircraft, seven PLAN vessels, and one official ship were detected, with 23 aircraft crossing into Taiwan's ADIZ. Additionally, two US naval vessels passed through the Taiwan Strait on February 10. On February 11, 32 PLA aircraft, eight PLAN vessels, and one official ship were observed, with 22 aircraft entering Taiwan's ADIZ. Two Chinese balloons were also detected.
China has recently increased its amphibious assault capabilities with new naval equipment, including an advanced landing helicopter assault vessel and floating bridge docks. The Taiwan-China conflict remains a significant geopolitical issue, with Taiwan operating as an independent state, while China views it as a breakaway province under the "One China" policy.
