PM Narendra Modi Meets Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Mariinskyi Palace in Kyiv for important bilateral talks. Upon arrival, PM Modi shared a warm embrace with President Zelenskyy and shook hands with various Ukrainian delegates. He was accompanied by Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

Both leaders held a restricted meeting to discuss key issues, followed by high-level delegation meetings where they formalized agreements and collaborations between the two nations.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian community at the Hyatt Hotel in Kyiv. Many students were present, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister. Modi tweeted, ‘Reached Kyiv earlier this morning. The Indian community accorded a very warm welcome.’

PM Modi also visited the multimedia Martyrologist exposition on children at the National Museum of History of Ukraine, accompanied by President Zelenskyy. He was deeply touched by the exposition, which commemorates children who have lost their lives in the conflict. As a mark of respect, he placed a toy in their memory and expressed his sorrow for the tragic loss of young lives.

Additionally, PM Modi paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at his statue in Kyiv’s ‘Oasis of Peace’ park. He emphasized the relevance of Gandhi’s message of peace in building a harmonious society and noted that Gandhi’s ideals offer solutions to present-day global challenges. Modi shared a picture on social media, stating, ‘Paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Kyiv. The ideals of Bapu are universal and give hope to millions. May we all follow the path he showed to humanity.’
