PM Modi's Visit to France and the United States
During his visit to France for the AI Action Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented a special gift to Mirabel Rose Vance, the daughter of US Vice President JD Vance. The gift was an eco-friendly wooden alphabet set, designed to be a safe and engaging learning tool that promotes environmental conservation.
Additionally, PM Modi gifted Dokra artwork, featuring musicians with studded stonework, to French President Emmanuel Macron. This visit to France, from February 10-12, included participation in various programs related to Artificial Intelligence, commerce, energy, and cultural linkages. PM Modi co-chaired the AI Action Summit, which brought together world leaders and global tech CEOs.
Following his visit to France, PM Modi traveled to the United States at the invitation of US President Donald Trump. He was welcomed by India's Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and other officials at Joint Base Andrews in Washington DC. This marked PM Modi's first visit to the US since President Trump began his second term.
Upon arrival, PM Modi was greeted by members of the Indian diaspora at Blair House, where they chanted "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Modi Modi." As a gesture of respect, the US flag at Blair House was replaced with the Indian flag before his arrival. PM Modi will stay at Blair House during his visit on February 12-13.
Since November 2024, PM Modi and President Trump have spoken twice by phone. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar attended President Trump's inauguration and met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during the QUAD Foreign Ministers' meeting in January 2025.
