Asif criticized PTI founder Imran Khan for prioritizing political goals over national interests, suggesting that even Khan's supporters might not have anticipated such actions. The Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Dubai from February 19 to March 9.
PTI's Planned Protests
PTI announced a "black day" on February 8 to protest what they claim was a "stolen mandate" in last year's general elections. They plan to hold a public gathering at Minar-i-Pakistan in Lahore. Aliya Hamza, PTI's Punjab chief party organizer, has requested permission for the event, emphasizing PTI's constitutional right to political activities.
Hamza stated that denying this right would violate the constitutional principles of political parties and democracy in Pakistan, as guaranteed by Article 16.
