Kirti Vardhan Singh Meets SCO Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev in India
Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, recently met with the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev, in New Delhi. This meeting marked Yermekbayev's first official visit to India since taking office.
During their meeting, Singh and Yermekbayev discussed ways to strengthen cooperation within the SCO framework across various key areas. Singh expressed his pleasure in meeting Yermekbayev and highlighted the productive nature of their discussions.
Earlier, Yermekbayev also met with India's External Affairs Minister, Jaishankar, to discuss India's contributions to the SCO and the development of a secure SCO. Jaishankar congratulated Yermekbayev on his new role and emphasized the importance of India's work within the organization.
Additionally, Tanmay Lal, Secretary (West) of the Ministry of External Affairs, engaged in discussions with Yermekbayev about different avenues of cooperation within the SCO. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, warmly welcomed Yermekbayev, underscoring India's commitment to enhancing regional cooperation, security, and economic development.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation is a permanent intergovernmental international organization with nine full member countries, including India, and several observer and dialogue partner countries.
