Khaleda Zia Travels to London for Medical Treatment

Khaleda Zia, the chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, has traveled to London for medical treatment. She departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on a special Royal Air Ambulance provided by the Emir of Qatar. The flight included her doctors, family members, and a medical team from Qatar.

Departure Details

Before her departure, a large group of BNP leaders and supporters gathered near her residence in Gulshan to bid her farewell. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the BNP Secretary General, advised the crowd to remain orderly. Khaleda Zia left her residence at 8 PM, and her departure was confirmed by Shamsuddin Didar, the BNP Chairperson's Press Wing Officer.

Medical Visit

The trip is primarily for medical reasons, as Khaleda Zia suffers from liver cirrhosis, heart disease, and kidney problems. She is expected to be admitted to the London Clinic upon arrival. Her medical team includes six doctors, and she is accompanied by family members and party officials.

Hope for Recovery

BNP leaders expressed hope for her successful treatment and return to political life. Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, a BNP Standing Committee member, wished for her speedy recovery. This is Khaleda Zia's first visit to the UK in nearly seven years, and her family and party are optimistic about her health improvement.
