In Hubballi, Karnataka, Minister for Housing, Waqf, and Minority Affairs, BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan, addressed the BJP’s criticism regarding the Waqf land claim issue. He suggested that the BJP raised this matter due to the upcoming Maharashtra elections and by-polls. Khan stated, “Am I a minister only for the Muslim community? I represent all communities.”

Political Reactions

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar accused the BJP of politicizing the issue, noting that directions have been given to the revenue department to address the notices. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured that no farmers would be evicted and any issued notices would be withdrawn.

BJP’s Stand

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya has written to the Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, Jagdambika Pal, requesting a delegation for affected farmers. Surya claims that farmers’ lands are being wrongly marked as Waqf property.
