Taiwan detects 24 Chinese aircraft in its territory, 18 crosses median line
Increased Military Activity Near Taiwan
The Ministry of National Defense (MND) of Taiwan has reported a significant increase in military activity around the island. As of 6:00 am on Friday, 24 aircraft from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and seven naval vessels from the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) were detected. Eighteen of these aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, entering Taiwan's northern, southwestern, and eastern Air Defence Identification Zones (ADIZ).
On Thursday, the MND detected 22 PLA aircraft, including J-16 fighter jets and KJ-500, conducting joint air-sea training with Chinese naval vessels. Eighteen of these aircraft crossed the median line, entering various ADIZ regions. Earlier that morning, three PLA aircraft and seven PLAN vessels were also detected, with all three aircraft crossing into Taiwan's southwestern ADIZ.
The Taiwan Strait remains a focal point of tension, with Taiwanese officials condemning these actions as threats to sovereignty and regional peace. China views Taiwan as part of its territory and insists on reunification, potentially by force.
