Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Accuses Central Government of Misusing Raj Bhawan
Mysuru (Karnataka) [India], August 2: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has accused the central government of misusing the Raj Bhawan to destabilize the state government. He stated that the Governor is acting as a puppet of the Central Government and the BJP-JDS alliance.
Speaking at the Mysuru airport before leaving for Kodagu district, Siddaramaiah said that the Governor’s show cause notice over the MUDA scam is illegal and unconstitutional. He emphasized that the central government is attempting to destabilize the elected government.
Responding to media questions, Siddaramaiah mentioned that he did not attend a recent cabinet meeting to avoid setting a bad precedent. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar conducted the meeting instead. After discussing the show cause notice, it was decided to advise the Governor to withdraw it.
Siddaramaiah called KJ Abraham a blackmailer and stated that taking action on his complaint is illegal. He emphasized that he has not committed any crime and criticized the hasty issuance of the notice.
The Chief Minister questioned why no action had been taken against former ministers with pending cases and stated that the current action was unnecessary. He noted that the Council of Ministers should advise the Governor, but they had not done so. A detailed letter was sent to the Governor, but it was not acknowledged.
Siddaramaiah mentioned that a judicial commission was constituted to investigate the MUDA case, and the report is awaited. He criticized the Governor for issuing the notice without considering this.
During his visit to Delhi, Siddaramaiah said that party leaders were convinced of the facts. Responding to opposition leader R. Ashok’s statement, he said he is not scared as he has done nothing wrong.
The Chief Minister also addressed the BJP’s planned padayatra, noting that Union Minister and JDS President H.D. Kumaraswamy had said there was no need for it. He emphasized the importance of addressing damage caused by heavy rains and floods and mentioned plans for compensation and reconstruction.
