Iranian Missiles Hit Jerusalem: Israel Responds Strongly
On Tuesday night, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released footage showing hundreds of Iranian missiles raining over the Old City in Jerusalem. This area is a holy site for Muslims, Christians, and Jews. The IDF stated that the Iranian regime targets everyone.
The IDF intercepted a large number of the 180 ballistic missiles launched from Iran. Israelis have now been told they can leave shelters. Earlier, the Israeli Air Force announced that they killed D. Al-Faqar Hanawi, the commander of the ‘Hamam Hossein’ division in Beirut, and Muhammad Jaafar Katzir, the commander of the unit for transferring weapons from Iran to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Iran’s state-run media, Press TV, claimed that 80% of the missiles fired at occupied territories hit their targets. The Iranian mission to the UN stated that Iran’s response was legal and legitimate, warning of a subsequent and crushing response if Israel retaliates.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for an immediate ceasefire, condemning the escalation of the conflict. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are monitoring the situation and have directed the U.S. military to aid Israel’s defense.
