INLD Leader Abhay Singh Chautala Confident About Winning Haryana Elections with BSP Alliance

INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala expressed confidence in the INLD-BSP alliance’s chances in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections, stating they would win and form the government. He emphasized that the alliance supports laborers and farmers and would send a significant message across the country.

Chautala mentioned, “There is an alliance of INLD and BSP for the Haryana assembly elections. Both parties are supporters of laborers and farmers… This alliance will send a different message throughout the country, and we will form the government in Haryana… I may contest the assembly elections from two constituencies. The party workers will decide from which seats I will contest.”

Meanwhile, Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda dismissed speculation about forming an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Haryana, asserting that Congress is capable of contesting the elections independently. Hooda stated, “We have an alliance with the Samajwadi Party too, but it is a central-level alliance, not state-based. We have no alliance here in Haryana. We have alliances with all parties at the national level, but there are no such discussions at the state level. Congress is fully capable of contesting the elections alone.”

Hooda further remarked that in the upcoming elections, the primary competition would be between Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), leaving no room for ‘vote cutters’. He commented on the INLD-BSP alliance, saying, “The Lok Sabha results have clearly shown that the competition is between Congress and the BJP, with no room for vote cutters.”

The elections for Haryana’s 90 assembly constituencies will be held in a single phase on October 1, with the counting of votes scheduled for October 4. Haryana has a total of 20.1 million voters, including 10.6 million males, 9.5 million females, 452,000 first-time voters, and 4.095 million young voters. The last date to file nominations is September 12, with scrutiny on September 13 and the final date for withdrawal of candidatures on September 16.

The current government’s term in Haryana will end on November 3, 2024. In the 2019 elections, the BJP formed a coalition government with the JJP, but the alliance was dissolved earlier this year. In 2024, Haryana is likely to witness a four-way contest between the BJP, Congress, Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), and AAP.
