Indian Navy Participates in La Perouse 25 Exercise
The Indian Navy took part in the sea phase of the La Perouse 25 exercise from January 17 to 20. This event included the French Carrier Strike Group, Royal Navy, and Royal Canadian Navy units. The Indian Navy's indigenous destroyer, INS Mumbai, and the P8I maritime surveillance aircraft were key participants.
Strengthening Maritime Security
The exercise aimed to enhance maritime security across the Indo-Pacific region. It included air defense drills, surface shoots, boarding operations, cross-deck landings, and tactical maneuvers. These activities highlighted the coordination and commitment of the participating nations to ensure maritime safety.
International Cooperation
Navies from India, France, Indonesia, Australia, the US, the UK, Malaysia, Singapore, and Canada participated in the exercise. It took place near the Malacca, Sunda, and Lombok straits, bridging the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The French Carrier Strike Group, led by the Charles De Gaulle aircraft carrier, conducted the exercise as part of Mission Clemenceau 25.
The Ministry of Defence emphasized that this participation aligns with India's SAGAR vision, promoting security and growth for all in the region.
