India Concerned Over Attack on UAE Ambassador’s Residence in Sudan

The Ministry of External Affairs in India has expressed concern over the recent attack on the UAE ambassador’s residence in Khartoum, Sudan. The Ministry emphasized the importance of respecting the inviolability of diplomatic premises in any conflict.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “We are following the security situation in Sudan. Inviolability of diplomatic premises in any conflict must be respected, and reports of attack on the residence of the UAE Ambassador in Khartoum is of serious concern.”

Earlier this week, the UAE reported that its ambassador’s residence in Khartoum was attacked by a Sudanese military aircraft. Abu Dhabi condemned the incident as a “heinous attack.”

Sudan’s military government denied the accusations, blaming the rival paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) instead. The government has accused the UAE of supporting the RSF with weapons and financial aid, which has fueled the ongoing conflict.

In June, Sudan’s ambassador to the United Nations, al-Harith Idriss al-Harith Mohamed, accused Abu Dhabi of providing support to the RSF, claiming it was the main reason behind the prolonged war. The UAE has called these allegations “disinformation,” stating its efforts are focused on de-escalation and humanitarian aid.

According to the United Nations, nearly 25 million people in Sudan need aid, with famine looming and around 8 million people displaced. Heavy clashes have erupted in several parts of Khartoum as government forces attempt to retake the city from the RSF, which has been accused of committing abuses against civilians.
