The Ice Hockey League has revealed the official trophy and jerseys for its second season, set to occur from January 2-9, 2025, in Ladakh. This initiative aims to strengthen Himalayan communities. The League will also support the Spiti Cup in Himachal Pradesh to further promote ice hockey.
Ahead of the season, a training program was held from December 8-12, led by Darryl Easson, a certified coach instructor from the International Ice Hockey Federation. This program brought together 32 coaches from Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh to enhance their skills.
The coaches will prepare players for the League, forming 10 men's and 5 women's teams from regions like Leh, Bodh-Kharbu, Drass, Kargil, Nubra, Sham, Zanskar, and Changthang. Notable players such as Noor, Diskit, Chamba, Gyalston, and Mustafa will participate.
The jerseys, made from recycled PET plastic, reflect environmental responsibility and celebrate Ladakh's sports culture. The trophy, inspired by ice hockey and the snow leopard, was designed by local artisan Nawang Gyalston.
Bidisha Dey, Executive Director of Eicher Group Foundation, expressed excitement for the second season, emphasizing its role in empowering ice hockey and supporting Himalayan communities. Royal Enfield confirmed its support for the Spiti Cup, featuring teams competing in Kaza from January 15-19.
