Chandrababu Naidu Plans Amaravati as AI City and Reviews Metro Projects
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to design and plan Amaravati as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) City. During a review meeting with Municipal Administration Minister Narayana and CRDA officials, Naidu emphasized that the Amaravati logo should symbolize AI by incorporating the first letter ‘A’ and the last letter ‘I’ of the word ‘Amaravati’.
Naidu criticized the previous government’s mismanagement, which he claimed derailed the capital’s development. He stressed the need to expedite ongoing works to restore progress. The meeting reviewed timelines for government building constructions, tender processes, and other related aspects. Officials assured Naidu that the CRDA office building would be completed within 90 days.
Naidu also reviewed the HappyNest project, which was halted by the YSRCP government in 2019. He directed officials to recover losses and revive the project. Additionally, 3,558 acres of land still needed to be acquired for the capital, with farmers from two villages willing to offer their lands.
During the review, Naidu discussed ongoing jungle clearance work, suggesting the use of drones to monitor progress. He also directed officials to expedite metro rail projects in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation MD Ramakrishna Reddy briefed Naidu on the Visakhapatnam metro project, which will be undertaken in two phases. Naidu instructed that Phase-1 should be completed within four years and urged the speedy completion of the Vijayawada metro rail project.
