CBI Arrests Odisha GST Officer Manoj Kumar Subudhi for Bribery

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Manoj Kumar Subudhi, the Superintendent of Central GST and Central Excise in Odisha, for accepting a bribe from a complainant to process his GST refund.

Subudhi, who works in Berhampur in the Ganjam district of Odisha, was caught red-handed while accepting the first installment of Rs 15,000 out of a total demanded bribe of Rs 20,000. The bribe was allegedly demanded for processing a GST refund of nearly Rs 3 lakhs.

The CBI registered a case on July 9 and laid a trap to catch Subudhi. They also conducted searches at his residential and official premises in Berhampur and Bhubaneswar, recovering incriminating documents.

Subudhi will be presented before the court of the Special Judge for CBI Cases in Bhubaneswar. Further investigation is ongoing.
