Balasaheb Thorat Criticizes BJP’s Divisive Politics in Maharashtra

In Pune, Maharashtra, Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat spoke out against the BJP, accusing them of engaging in divisive politics. Thorat emphasized that the Congress party has never incited conflicts based on religion or caste, unlike the BJP, which he claims creates divisions and stirs up caste-based conflicts.

Thorat praised the progressive legacy of the Thackeray family, noting that Bal Thackeray’s father was a progressive leader in Maharashtra. He argued that this progressive spirit continues in their family, aligning with common progressive programs.

Addressing the BJP’s accusations of “vote jihad” and the “Bantenge to Katenge” campaign slogan, Thorat questioned the logic behind these terms. He asked if voting for onions would be called “onion jihad” or if farmers voting would be “farmer jihad.”

As the Maharashtra Assembly polls approach, posters featuring Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the slogan “Bantenge to Katenge” have appeared in Mumbai. BJP member Vishwabandhu Rai explained that this slogan is a response to the opposition’s tactics, highlighting the support for the BJP in North India and their strategy in Maharashtra.
