Assam Rifles' Successful Fight Against Poppy Cultivation in Manipur

In 2024, Assam Rifles made significant strides in combating illegal poppy cultivation along the Indo-Myanmar border. They successfully identified and destroyed 354 acres of illicit poppy fields in the districts of Ukhrul, Churachandpur, and Chandel in Manipur.

Consistent Efforts Over the Years

Assam Rifles has been committed to eradicating poppy cultivation for years. In 2020, they identified 8057 acres of poppy fields and destroyed 1695 acres. The following years saw continued efforts with 5610 acres identified and 1976 acres destroyed in 2021, 494 acres identified and 715 acres destroyed in 2022, and 1735 acres identified and 1488 acres eradicated in 2023.
