Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal, along with his wife Sunita Kejriwal, is set to launch the Pujari, Granthi Samman Yojana from the Hanuman Temple at Connaught Place. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi will also launch the scheme from a Gurudwara in Karol Bagh.
The scheme, announced by Kejriwal ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, aims to provide an honorarium of Rs 18,000 per month to temple priests and Gurudwara granthis. Kejriwal emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of priests who have long served communities without adequate support.
Kejriwal highlighted that this initiative is a first in the country and expressed hope that other political parties, like BJP and Congress, would adopt similar measures in their states. He criticized the BJP for attempting to obstruct previous initiatives like the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana.
