New Delhi, India – August 29: Amid the controversy over West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s comments, Congress MP Manickam Tagore emphasized the importance of focusing on women’s safety at home and work. He warned that the BJP might try to divert attention with cheap politics.

Tagore stated, “It is a very serious issue that we are discussing – women’s safety in her house and workplace. Kolkata doctor’s rape has made this issue bigger and now everybody is turning towards it and we now need to concentrate on the real issue. We should not be getting diverted with cheap politics. We all know that BJP will try to divert this into cheap politics. We should be careful that we do not get dragged into diversion politics. We should concentrate on the women’s security.”

Union Minister Giriraj Singh compared Mamata Banerjee to North Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Un, saying she cannot tolerate opposition. BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan criticized Banerjee’s remarks and suggested that the Supreme Court should take notice of her “dangerous speech.”

Earlier, Mamata Banerjee had accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using his party to incite violence in Bengal over the Kolkata woman doctor rape and murder incident. She warned that if Bengal burns, other states like Assam, North-East, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Delhi would also be affected.

Assam Chief Minister responded to Banerjee’s comments, saying, “Didi, how dare you threaten Assam? Don’t show us red eyes. Don’t even try to burn India with your politics of failure. It does not suit you to speak divisive language.”
