Baloch Yakjehti Committee Condemns Abduction of Baloch Musicians in Turbat

In Balochistan, Pakistan, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has condemned the abduction of nine Baloch musicians, including the well-known artist Ustad Arif Mazar. The incident occurred during a raid at the Kech Culture Centre in Turbat. The artists were taken into custody around 9 PM and faced harassment and torture before being moved to a military base.

According to a statement by the BYC, these artists were detained without legal justification and later transferred to police stations where they were held for an entire day before being released. The BYC highlighted this as a grave injustice and a reflection of the harsh realities faced by Baloch artists, who are subjected to human rights abuses instead of being celebrated for their cultural contributions.

The BYC has called on the Baloch people to speak out against these human rights violations, emphasizing that the armed forces have unchecked power to detain and harass individuals. The committee stands in solidarity with the artists and demands their safety and well-being, describing them as invaluable cultural assets.

The situation in Balochistan is tense, with over a hundred cases of mass abductions by Pakistan forces, creating fear and anxiety among the people. Despite violent measures by the armed forces to suppress protests, the BYC and the Baloch community continue to fight against enforced disappearances.
