Aizawl (Mizoram) [India], October 2: Mizoram Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary in Aizawl. Nallu, who is also the Governor of Tripura, participated in a series of events to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.

The Governor took part in a rally organized in honor of Gandhi Jayanti, celebrating the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. The event was attended by dignitaries, local officials, and the public.

In addition to the rally, Governor Nallu engaged in a Swachhata Shramadhaan activity, leading by example as he swept areas adjacent to the places he visited in the city.

Prime Minister Modi, in a post on X, highlighted the lasting impact of Bapu’s life and ideals based on truth, harmony, and equality, which continue to inspire the people of the country. He said, “On behalf of all countrymen, salutations to Pujya Bapu on his birth anniversary. His life and ideals based on truth, harmony, and equality will always remain an inspiration for the countrymen.”

Earlier today, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Union Minister Manoharlal Khattar paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in the national capital.

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who is also known as the ‘Father of the Nation.’ The whole nation pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on this day, which is marked as a national holiday. Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar town of Gujarat, Mahatma Gandhi adopted non-violent resistance and was at the forefront of the freedom struggle against colonial British rule, leading to India’s independence in 1947.
