Rahul Gandhi Criticizes PM Modi and Haryana Government in Sonipat Rally

Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition, stepped up his attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Haryana government during a rally in Gohana, Sonipat. He accused them of making Haryana a ‘centre of unemployment’ and claimed that finding employment in the state is nearly impossible.

Gandhi targeted the BJP over demonetisation and GST, comparing the situation to the Mahabharat’s ‘chakravyuh’ where Abhimanyu was trapped. He alleged that the BJP has trapped shopkeepers and given bank money to a few billionaires. He also mentioned that shopkeepers receive ransom calls from foreign nations.

Criticizing the ‘Parivaar Pehchan Patra,’ Gandhi called it a ‘baseless’ family card created to give a contract worth Rs 100-200 crores to a businessman. He promised to end this scheme if Congress forms the government in Haryana.

Regarding the ‘Agniveer Yojana,’ Gandhi claimed it aims to divert the defence budget and take away benefits from soldiers, calling it the ‘Adani Yojana.’ He contrasted his stance with that of PM Modi by referring to Ambani’s wedding, where Modi was present but he was not.

Haryana will go to the polls on October 5 to elect its 90-member state legislative assembly, with counting set to take place on October 8. In the 2019 elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party, securing 40 seats, while Congress won 30 seats.
