Ajit Doval Meets French Minister Sebastien Lecornu to Discuss Defence Cooperation
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held a meeting with French Minister for the Armed Forces Sebastien Lecornu in Paris. They discussed various aspects of defence cooperation, including the Rafale Marine, Scorpene submarines, space, and the international situation, particularly in Ukraine.
The French Embassy in India shared details about the meeting, highlighting the range of topics covered. Sebastien Lecornu also posted about the meeting on X, emphasizing the importance of bilateral defence cooperation.
Earlier, the Indian Navy’s frontline stealth frigate, INS Tabar, visited Toulon, France, and participated in the 22nd edition of the India-France bilateral exercise VARUNA in the Mediterranean Sea. The exercise involved advanced naval operations, including tactical manoeuvres, anti-submarine warfare exercises, and live weapon firings, showcasing the interoperability between the two navies.
The Ministry of Defence noted that the VARUNA exercise, which began in 2001, has significantly evolved, enhancing interoperability and the exchange of best practices between the Indian and French navies.
