Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Alerts Districts Amid Heavy Rains
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has issued directions to the district magistrates to remain alert and coordinate with relief and rescue teams due to the heavy rain situation in the state.
Constant Communication
According to an official release, CM Dhami is in constant touch with officials in areas affected by waterlogging. He has directed all district magistrates to stay in alert mode and coordinate with SDRF, NDRF, and other rescue teams.
Public Safety
The Chief Minister has appealed to residents to leave their homes only for essential work, following a heavy rain alert issued by the Meteorological Department. He emphasized that the safety of the state’s people and travelers is a top priority.
Weather Alerts
Disaster Management Authority Joint CEO Mohammad Obaidulla Ansari stated that an orange alert is in place for Dehradun and Bageshwar, while a yellow alert is issued for other districts. Instructions have been given to all districts to be cautious, and there is no information about a cloudburst.
Rescue Operations
265 roads have been blocked, with 60 reopened so far. Efforts are ongoing to clear the remaining roads. The water level of rivers is rising, and continuous warnings are being issued.
Landslide Incident
Earlier today, rescue personnel recovered the body of a woman, Sarita Devi, who was buried under debris from a landslide in Ghansali. Her daughter is still missing. The landslide was triggered by heavy rain in village Toli, and the SDRF team is conducting a search operation.
Heavy rains have caused landslides in parts of Uttarakhand, blocking the highway to Badrinath at several points.
