Kolkata (West Bengal), June 28: Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar has set up a seven-member team to look into an alleged assault on a minority woman in Cooch Behar. The team includes BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul, MLA Sikha Chatterjee, Phalguni Patra, Shashi Agnihotri, MLA Malati Rava Roy, Mafuja Khatun, and MP Jayanta Roy.

Meanwhile, the West Bengal Police have registered a case and arrested three suspects related to the incident. They also warned against spreading false rumors about the incident, clarifying that it is a family matter and should not be politicized or given a communal angle.

On the same day, the BJP’s fact-finding team, which investigated post-poll violence in West Bengal, submitted its report to BJP President JP Nadda. BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, a member of the team, alleged that ‘Taliban Raj’ has been established in West Bengal, claiming a complete violation of women’s rights and inaction by the police.

Reports of post-poll violence have emerged from various areas in West Bengal, where BJP workers were allegedly attacked, and their offices vandalized following the 2024 Lok Sabha election results.
