The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, attended the 83rd convocation of Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The event took place at the Mahatma Gandhi Convocation Hall and was presided over by V Muraleedharan, President of the Sabha.
Approximately 8000 students received their Praveen and Visharad examination certificates. The event also saw participation from members of the Executive Committee, Academic Council, and Governing Body from all southern states.
Five senior Hindi pracharaks were honored for their contributions to promoting Hindi in southern states. Additionally, four litterateurs from Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam were recognized, symbolizing Mahatma Gandhi's vision of integration.
MA, M.Phil, PhD, B.Ed, and PG Diploma students took an oath of allegiance administered by P Obaiah, Chairman of the Shiksha Parishad. Union Minister Sonowal highlighted Hindi's historic role in national integration and its enrichment of regional languages. He urged the youth to help make Hindi a global language.
