Guwahati (Assam) [India], June 30: Union Minister Pabitra Margherita expressed confidence that the people of Jharkhand support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and predicted a sweeping victory in the upcoming assembly elections. This statement came after former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren accused the BJP of conspiring against him and claimed that the party would be defeated in the state.

Hemant Soren, a leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), alleged that the BJP controls all constitutional establishments but was taught a lesson in the recent Lok Sabha elections. He challenged the BJP to conduct the assembly elections at any time, dismissing their chances of winning as ‘Mungerilal ke Haseen Sapne’ (Mungerilal’s beautiful dreams).

Reacting to Soren’s remarks, Pabitra Margherita stated that the people of Jharkhand, like those in neighboring Odisha, will support the BJP and Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a developed India (Viksit Bharat). He expressed confidence that the BJP’s dream will come true and that the people of Jharkhand will continue to support the party.

Margherita also mentioned that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is one of the convenors for the election strategy in Jharkhand and that the BJP is optimistic about their chances. He emphasized that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has widespread support across India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Gujarat to the Northeast.

In a separate context, Margherita spoke about a recent courtesy meeting with Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma, noting that no official discussions took place, and it was a respectful visit.

Meanwhile, Hemant Soren was released from Birsa Munda Jail on June 28 after being granted bail by the state high court in a money laundering case. The court observed that he was not prima facie guilty and there was no likelihood of him committing an offense while on bail. Soren had been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 31 in connection with a land scam investigation.
