The UK-India Young Professionals Scheme (YPS) 2025 ballot is opening soon, offering Indian nationals a chance to live, study, work, and travel in the UK. The ballot will be open from February 18 to February 20.
Indian nationals aged 18 to 30 can enter the ballot on gov.uk for one of the 3,000 available spots. No payment is required to enter, and successful entries are chosen randomly. Applicants must be at least 18 years old when they plan to travel, hold a UK bachelor's degree or higher, and have proof of £2,530 in savings.
Lindy Cameron, the British High Commissioner to India, encourages young people from all over India to apply, highlighting the scheme's role in fostering understanding between the UK and India.
Launched in February 2023, the YPS is a reciprocal program allowing UK and Indian nationals aged 18 to 30 to live, study, travel, and work in each other's countries for up to two years. Selected applicants are notified via email within two weeks of the ballot closing and have 90 days to apply for a visa.
In the year ending December 2023, over 2,100 YPS visas were issued to Indian nationals.
This is a program that allows young people from India to go to the UK to live, study, work, and travel for up to two years. It's a way for young Indians to experience life in the UK.
A ballot is like a lottery or a draw. In this context, it means that people who want to join the scheme will be chosen randomly from those who apply.
The British High Commissioner is like an ambassador. Lindy Cameron is the person who represents the UK in India and helps maintain good relations between the two countries.
This is the amount of money you need to show you have saved. It's to make sure you can support yourself when you first arrive in the UK.
