The body of Rehanullah, a contract worker for the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), was discovered in the remote Zareefwaal area of Lakki Marwat district. He had been kidnapped along with another PAEC worker, leading to days of uncertainty and search efforts by local communities.
An elder from the area, who wished to remain anonymous, shared that local elders, relatives, and armed civic members searched the region for the kidnapped workers. This search followed reports of security forces targeting militant hideouts with shelling, although the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has not confirmed these details.
A video on social media showed armed locals searching the mountainous area. The kidnappers handed over Rehanullah's body to the elders, who took it to the Government City Hospital for examination. In a positive turn, the elders secured the release of Nawaz Khan, a coach driver abducted with Rehanullah on January 9. Efforts continue to free the remaining hostages.
After medical formalities, Rehanullah's body was returned to his family and laid to rest in a local graveyard, with a large crowd attending his funeral. In response, the All Shopkeepers Union announced a city-wide strike in Lakki Marwat for Monday, supporting efforts to release all hostages. The business community plans to join protests in solidarity with the victims' families.
