Taiwan Monitors Chinese Military Activity Near Its Borders
On February 9, Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense (MND) reported the presence of 14 Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft and 6 People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels around Taiwan. Nine of these aircraft crossed the median line, entering Taiwan's northern and southwestern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). The MND confirmed monitoring and responding to the situation.
Previously, on Saturday, the MND detected 11 Chinese military aircraft and eight naval vessels near Taiwan. Nine of these aircraft also crossed the median line into Taiwan's ADIZ. Additionally, a Chinese balloon was spotted during this period.
China has recently increased its amphibious assault capabilities with new naval equipment, including an advanced landing helicopter assault vessel and floating bridge docks for beach landings.
The Taiwan-China conflict is a longstanding geopolitical issue focused on Taiwan's sovereignty. Taiwan operates as an independent state, but China views it as a breakaway province under the "One China" policy.
