On September 24, 2024, the Supreme Court Collegium, which includes Chief Justice Dr. DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, and Justice BR Gavai, recommended these appointments. The Collegium emphasized the importance of maintaining judicial integrity and efficiency by appointing qualified individuals.

The notification also mentioned that the seniority of the new judges would be determined according to existing practices.
