Speaking at the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards Ceremony, he highlighted how people of Indian origin hold political offices and lead organizations worldwide, making India proud and strengthening international ties.
Jaishankar emphasized the importance of the diaspora in shaping India's global image and expressed confidence that awardees would continue to serve as bridges between India and the world. The awards, presented by President Droupadi Murmu, recognize the achievements of select diaspora members.
He also discussed the dual perspectives of "India first" and "Vasudeva Kutumbakam," noting the era of interdependence, technology flows, and talent mobility. The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention, organized by the Ministry of External Affairs, serves as a platform for engaging with the diaspora and enhancing international relationships.
The 18th PBD Convention, held in partnership with the Odisha State Government, focused on the theme "Diaspora's Contribution to a Viksit Bharat," attracting participants from over 50 countries.
