The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for light to moderate rainfall accompanied by light thunderstorms and lightning on Monday in isolated areas of Delhi-NCR, Yamunanagar, and Kurukshetra.

Areas Expected to Receive Rainfall

In Delhi-NCR, the areas expected to receive rainfall include:

  • Hindon AF Station
  • Ghaziabad
  • Indirapuram
  • Chhapraula
  • Noida
  • Dadri
  • Greater Noida
  • Gurugram
  • Manesar

In Haryana, the areas expected to receive rainfall include:

  • Karnal
  • Panipat
  • Hissar
  • Hansi
  • Siwani
  • Sohana
  • Rewari
  • Bawal
  • Nuh

Recent Rainfall in Delhi

On July 18, rain brought relief from the humid weather in Delhi. In June, the city experienced the highest rainfall in 88 years, with 228 mm of rain recorded from 8:30 a.m. on June 27 to 8:30 a.m. on June 28. The total rainfall was 235.5 mm, marking the maximum rainfall in 24 hours in June since 1936.

Impact on Yamuna River

Due to the recent rain, water levels in the Yamuna river have risen, prompting authorities to issue an alert to residents of Noida villages along the riverbanks. These villages experienced severe flooding last year during the monsoon season, causing significant inconvenience to residents of both Delhi and Noida.

Weather Alert for Himachal Pradesh

On July 21, the IMD issued an orange alert for several districts of Himachal Pradesh, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall for the coming week. Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is likely to occur in various districts of Himachal Pradesh. Earlier this month, heavy rainfall hampered 70 roads, 51 water supply schemes, and 84 electricity supply schemes in the region.
